Forty years after fleeing Iran, Maryam has never been able to return home. Instead, she creates a fragile bridge across continents: surveillance cameras installed in her parents’ house in Tehran stream their everyday lives into her room in America. Through these flickering images, she watches her aging father shuffle through familiar rooms, her mother dance, and a home suspended between her memory and the present. But when war and political tensions sever Iran’s internet connection, the screens go dark and her last digital link to home disappears. With Past Future Continuous, Firouzeh Khosrovani (Radiograph of a Family) and Morteza Ahmadvand create a poetic meditation on exile, memory, and the invisible threads that bind families across distance and time. Blending documentary, personal archives, and visual poetry, the film asks whether technology can truly preserve intimacy, or if it is the very reason for all these distances.
