Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Survey

In November 2020 The Cinematheque’s board and staff are beginning an equity, diversity, and inclusion process to take a holistic look at how The Cinematheque can best operate as an inclusive and accessible institution with anti-racist values and practices. In 2021 and beyond we hope that we will be able to share more about this process and invite further participation from volunteers, patrons, and the general public. At this time, we welcome your input as we begin initial planning.

Complete the survey here.

We will be accepting responses until midnight November 22, 2020.

The Cinematheque stands in solidarity with those fighting against racism and for justice, equity, and meaningful change. We have always believed in the importance of presenting a diversity of programming by a diversity of artists, and we will continue to support and amplify the voices of Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour filmmakers by investing in their work and making it accessible to our communities.

But we must, all of us, do better.

A good place to start is by learning about Hogan’s Alley and watching the short film Secret Vancouver: Return to Hogan’s Alley.

We also recommend you make it a priority to delve into the National Film Board of Canada’s collection of films by award-winning Black filmmakers, creators, and allies of the Black community, detailing a rich history to better understand the present. You can find the collection of films, all available to watch online, here.
