European Union Film Festival 2021
Cyprus

Theocharis, a lonely elderly man, goes to the local hospital every night. He sleeps on the benches and chairs of the outpatient clinics because he is afraid of staying alone in his own home. Every morning he returns home, where his only companions are his cat and his memories. One night a nurse, Eugenia, encounters him and tries to find out more about him. At first, Theocharis is cautious and refuses to give her any information. Soon enough, however, a relationship of trust begins to develop between them, and Eugenia pledges to try to help him with life’s challenges. A touching, gently humorous film about loneliness and, more importantly, compassion, Senior Citizen is a quiet, absorbing drama.
