VANCOUVER PREMIERE | Seven-year-old Aya spends a lot of time in the theatre where her father Asen, an actor, performs. One night, Aya falls asleep there. On the same evening, the real drama takes place backstage, after the show: Asen, shocked to learn that he is to be replaced in the long-running production by a TV star, provokes a scandal, which turns into a drunken brawl. Aya and her mom will have leading roles to play in Ansen’s subsequent efforts to recover his dignity and self-worth. Stefan Denolyubov, as Asen, won the best actor prize at Bulgaria’s Golden Rose national film festival. Prominent Bulgarian stage performers make up much of the cast. In Bulgarian with English subtitles.
