Media, Revolution and Regimes Pro-D

Media, Revolution and Regimes Large ProD

In all revolutions across history and geography, communication and technology have played a crucial role in the spreading of ideas.  From the use of the printing press during the French Revolution, to the propagandist films of Nazi Germany, media has been utilized by revolutionaries and oppressors alike.

This workshop takes a close look at how different media tools have been used to attempt to control societies, and how the very same tools can be taken up as weapons of revolution in countries such as France, Russia, India, Germany, Iran, Egypt, and The United States.  The workshop also analyzes what it takes to not only cause a revolution, but to create one as well, and how that matters to us in the new information society of the 21st century.
